Hey everyone!
It's been an interesting 2013 but we made it though another year. On Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency, 333 W. Kilbourn Ave., Milwaukee, we'll hold our last formal event of the year.

Diversity and the news: With newsrooms shrinking all around the country how does that impact diversity in coverage and in the newsroom? How important is having reporters/producers/anchors with different backgrounds? We'll be discussing this topic in great detail with great guests.

Georgia Pabst: Milwaukee Journal Sentinel columnist and reporter who writes the Latino Connection blog about some of the trends and changes in the local Hispanic community.

James Causey: A member of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel editorial board and his column, Uncommon Causey, takes a different look at several issues in the urban community, city hall and crime in Milwaukee.
Sophia Minnaert: Fox Sports Wisconsin's sideline reporter for the Milwaukee Brewers and Bucks.

Cost: $10 for SPJ members,$20 for non-SPJ members.

*Also* since this is the time for giving, I'd like to offer a substitute for paying cash. If you bring at least 3 nonperishable food items you won't have to pay. We'll donate the food to a local food bank on behalf of SPJ.

As always if you have any questions please let me know and I hope to see you all there. Thanks for a great year.
